Empowering Young Minds: EduGyani’s Awareness Session on Puberty and Adolescence at Government Girls Secondary School, Burari.

In a heartwarming initiative to empower young girls with knowledge and confidence, EduGyani, an organization dedicated to educational outreach, conducted an impactful awareness session on puberty and the changes during adolescence at Government Girls Secondary School, Burari, Delhi. Led by Ankit Jha and supported by a team of dedicated counselors—Priya Ma’am, Shruti Ma’am, Prachi Ma’am, and Udit Sir—the session aimed to break taboos, foster understanding, and equip students with the tools to navigate this transformative phase of life.

Adolescence is a critical period marked by physical, emotional, and psychological changes. Yet, in many communities, discussions about puberty remain shrouded in silence, leaving young girls confused or unprepared. Recognizing this gap, EduGyani designed an interactive and inclusive session tailored to the students’ needs, creating a safe space for them to learn, ask questions, and share their thoughts.

A Day of Learning and Connection.

The session, held at the school premises, brought together students eager to understand the changes they are experiencing or will soon encounter. Ankit Jha, the in-charge of the program, kicked off the event with a warm introduction, emphasizing the importance of open conversations about growing up. His approachable demeanor set the tone for a judgment-free environment, encouraging the girls to participate actively.

Counselors Priya Ma’am, Shruti Ma’am, Prachi Ma’am, and Udit Sir played a pivotal role in making the session engaging and relatable. With their expertise in counseling and education, they covered key topics such as the physical changes during puberty (like menstruation and body development), emotional shifts, and the importance of self-care. The team used simple language and real-life examples to ensure the information was accessible to all students, regardless of their prior knowledge.

The session wasn’t just about delivering facts—it was about building confidence. Interactive activities, such as group discussions and Q&A segments, allowed the girls to voice their concerns and clarify doubts. From questions about managing menstrual hygiene to coping with mood swings, the counselors addressed each query with sensitivity and care, reinforcing that these changes are a normal part of growing up.

Breaking the Silence.

One of the session’s core goals was to dismantle myths and misconceptions surrounding puberty. In many households, topics like menstruation are rarely discussed openly, often leading to fear or shame among young girls. Priya Ma’am and Shruti Ma’am, in particular, focused on normalizing these conversations, sharing practical tips on hygiene and wellness. They emphasized that puberty is not something to be embarrassed about but a natural milestone to embrace with pride.

Priya Ma'am, Shruti Ma'am and Prachi Maam brought a unique perspective, discussing the importance of mental health during adolescence. He highlighted strategies for managing stress and building self-esteem, encouraging the students to support one another as they navigate these changes. Meanwhile, Prachi Ma’am connected with the girls through storytelling, using anecdotes to illustrate how knowledge and awareness can empower them to make informed choices.

EduGyani’s Commitment to Education.

EduGyani, known for its efforts to bridge educational gaps, demonstrated its commitment to holistic learning through this session. By choosing a government school in Burari, the organization ensured that girls from diverse backgrounds had access to vital information that could shape their understanding of themselves and their bodies. Ankit Jha, reflecting on the initiative, shared, “Our goal is to empower these young minds with knowledge that helps them grow with confidence and dignity. Today’s session is a step toward that vision.”

The school administration also played a crucial role, providing full support to make the event possible. Teachers and staff expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting how such programs complement classroom learning by addressing real-world challenges faced by their students.

A Step Toward a Brighter Future

The session left a lasting impact on the students, who left with not just information but also a sense of community and reassurance. For many, it was the first time they had openly discussed puberty with trusted adults, paving the way for more confident conversations at home and with peers. The counselors’ warmth and expertise ensured that every girl felt heard and valued, fostering a sense of empowerment that will stay with them as they grow.

EduGyani’s initiative at Government Girls Secondary School, Burari, is a shining example of how education can transform lives. By addressing topics often left unspoken, the team—led by Ankit Jha and supported by Priya Ma’am, Shruti Ma’am, Prachi Ma’am, and Udit Sir—has taken a meaningful step toward building a generation of informed, confident, and resilient young women.

As the girls return to their classrooms and homes, they carry with them not just knowledge but also the courage to embrace their journey through adolescence with pride.
